Westover C-5 performs AFC Championship Game Flyover at Gillette Stadium

People from western Mass saw a familiar sight during the opening ceremonies of the AFC Championship game at Gillette Stadium Sunday, the Patriot Wing from Westover Air Reserve Base.
Members of the 337th Aerial Squadron out of Westover had the honor of performing a flyover for the Patriots just before kick-off.
The C5 you saw during Sunday's game recently returned from delivering supplies to troops in Afghanistan.
The New England Patriot team's logo has long been identified with Westover, the logo appears on the tail of the 16 C5 airlifters assigned to the base, and Westover is nationally known as The Patriot Wing.

The Pilot in the left seat with the Brady shirt is Lt. Col. Mike Davis!!

Galaxy Council Vice President Ed Spellacy continues his short stories (Pan Amusings) from his days as a Pan Am 747 Captain. Check out these very interesting stories from a fellow member.

GALAXY MEMBER OF THE MONTH  - Each month the Galaxy Community Council profiles one of its members.  This month’s member is:

Connie Foster will readily tell you “be careful who you meet in a bar.”  In her case, it was GCC member Frank Meckay.   Connie, who had just moved to Chicopee from Beverly, MA, had been talking to a friend about finding some volunteer work in the area; needing something to occupy her free-time.  Frank mentioned the Galaxy Community Council and the rest, as they say, is history. Connie, not one to just attend a meeting once a month, quickly got involved – some would say “over-involved” – on base.  Bud mentioned the Protocol Office was looking for items to put in DV rooms.  Connie quickly jumped on that project.  Next, the need for assistance working with the Airmen & Family Readiness Center on Month of the Military Child’s Kids Day. With this year’s air show fast approaching, Connie is combining her real life (work) with her fun life (GCC) handling accommodations & travel arrangements for GCC guests (acts & static displays).   Connie has been in the hotel business for more than 20 years, doing everything there is to do in a hotel and working all over the east coast, most recently with Pioneer Valley Hotel Group as the Director of Sales & Marketing.  Connie also volunteers as the Scholarship Committee Chairperson for Chicopee Comp Friends of Football.  Thanks to Hampton’s delicious cookies, Connie is not happy to be known around base as the “cookie lady.”  Connie jokes, “It makes me sound like I’m a frail 80-year old woman with 10 cats”.  Connie, its people like you that make the Galaxy Council a great organization.  Thank you for your service and the cookies.Connie Foster will readily tell you “be careful who you meet in a bar.”  In her case, it was GCC member Frank Meckay.   Connie, who had just moved to Chicopee from Beverly, MA, had been talking to a friend about finding some volunteer work in the area; needing something to occupy her free-time.  Frank mentioned the Galaxy Community Council and the rest, as they say, is history.
